French marigold "Tiger Eyes"
French marigold ''Tiger Eyes'' - Tagetes patula nana.
A very decorative variety with bright two-colour chrysanthemum-shaped inflorescences, 6 cm in diameter. Plant height is up to 25 cm.
The central inflorescences consist of large orange petals, originally arranged in the form of curls. Along the edge of the inflorescence there are 2 rows of reed petals of a dark burgundy colour located in “cuffs”. The warm, bitter-tart aroma differs from the smell of other varieties. They bloom for a long time, from early summer until autumn.
Used in flower beds, in groups on lawns, to decorate balconies and windows. Due to the compact form of the plants, they are best suited for growing in containers and pots. It has a unique, spicy aroma and has a sanitary effect on the soil. To prolong flowering, remove faded inflorescences.
Agrotechnics.
For earlier flowering, marigold seedlings are easy to grow indoors or in greenhouses.
For seedlings to be healthy, they need nutritious loose soil, an even temperature of +10+22°C and moderate watering. Marigold seeds are large, so they can be placed in furrows at a distance of 2-3 cm. Seedlings are planted in open ground when the threat of frost has passed. When planting in open ground, seeds are sown in May to a depth of 0.5-1.0 cm.
Marigolds are heat- and light-loving, but can also grow in partial shade, are very drought-resistant, and undemanding to soil and moisture.
